Documents Required to Register on Voting Day

The City will be using the Provincial Voter's List for the 2021 By-Election. For those not on the Voter's List, registration will be required:

To register as a resident elector on voting day, a person must do one of the following:

  • produce at least two documents (at least one with a signature) that provide evidence of the applicant’s identity and place of residence, or
  • produce at least two documents (at least one with a signature) that provide evidence of the applicant’s identity and make a solemn declaration as to the applicant’s place of residence, or
  • produce one document that provides evidence of the applicant’s identity (must contain a signature) and make a solemn declaration as the second document providing evidence of identity and residency

To register as a non-resident property elector on voting day, a person must do one of the following:

  • produce at least two documents (at least one with a signature) that provide evidence of the applicant’s identity, or
  • produce one document that provides evidence of the applicant’s identity (must contain a signature) and make a solemn declaration as the second document providing evidence of identity.

A person wishing to register as a non-resident property elector must also provide proof satisfactory to the election official that the person is entitled to register in relation to the property (e.g., a Land Title Office search showing the individual as a registered owner) and, if applicable, the written consent of the other registered owners of the property.

If registering as a non-resident property elector  with more than one property owner, a majority of registered owners of the real property must give written consent. The Non-Resident Property Election Consent form will assist.
